The gauges for a six stringed guitar range from the smallest on the high e string and level up to the b g d a and low e strings. String gauges are usually referred to by the gauge of their lightest string. And light strings for either can vary greatly between one manufacturer and another.

The lightest strings are typically an 008 often referred to by guitarists as eights and the heaviest a 56 or fifty six. Note though that different manufacturers include slightly different string gauges in their sets of strings. Electric guitar strings are manufactured in a range of thicknesses or gauges.
Extra light light medium however there are no set in stone definitions for any of these terms light strings on an electric guitar will have smaller gauges than light strings on an acoustic guitar.
